Karen Kwasny for VB City Council

Sandbridge Beach Business Association Endorses Karen Kwasny

The Sandbridge Beach Business Association endorses Karen Kwasny for the Virginia Beach City Council, Princess Anne District Representative. An educator from Ashville Park, Dr. Karen Beardslee Kwasny currently serves as a Virginia Beach planning commissioner. She is challenging incumbent City Councilmember Barbara Henley. Karen brings with her, experience in city politics. She has been a member of the Transition Area/Interfacility Traffic Area Citizens Advisory Committee since 2014, the Vision to Action Community Coalition since 2016, and the Princess Anne District representative on the City of Virginia Beach Planning Commission since 2015. Karen believes each of these positions provides her with the opportunity to contribute to the health and growth of Virginia Beach and its residents. Quoted from her website, “I am running for City Council, Princess Anne District Representative, because I have a passion for shaping this city to preserve the past, enhance the present, and focus on the future. I also have a deep compassion for the residents of Virginia Beach. I truly care what they think and what they want for their respective areas. It’s important the citizens of Virginia Beach feel they have a voice in the way this city grows and changes.” The Sandbridge Beach Business Association believes that Karen Kwasny is the best candidate for the Princess Anne District on the Virginia Beach City Council. Her vision for Virginia Beach is forward thinking, yet she understands the need to preserve our history. Karen Kwasny website Donate to Karen Kwasny Campaign

SBBA position on Event Home issue

The Sandbridge Beach Business Association is aware that some fulltime Sandbridge residents have concerns regarding “Event Homes”. Based on information collected, it appears that issues of excessive noise and illegal parking are isolated to only a few of the larger properties. While calls for police service have been minimal, adjacent neighbors have been inconvenienced.

We recognize the great benefits that vacation guests and visitors provide our community but we also know what makes Sandbridge special, “harmony”. We remain committed in working together with the Civic League and City government in addressing neighborhood issues such as these with the hope of compromise.
